In the test results, the average reading speed of HGST Ultrastar He12 is 188.9MB/s, the writing speed is 182.2MB/s, and the average reading speed of Seajerk Pro mechanical hard disk is 201.4MB/s, and the writing speed is 201.7MB/s.

The overall performance of Seagate BarraCuda Pro is a little higher, which shows that HGST Ultrastar He12 is still a bit weak in the underlying performance.

In terms of their running points, Seagate Cool Fish Pro scored 3498 on the mechanical hard disk, while HGST Ultrastar He12 scored 2116. That is to say, the performance of Seagate BarraCuda Pro is better when it comes to professional software and large files.

AS SSD software is used to test the read-write performance of solid-state hard disk itself, but this software is also suitable for testing the read-write performance of mechanical hard disk. All of them are storage devices, and the algorithms will not differ too much.

According to the test results of AS SSD, the reading and writing speed of Seagate Cool Fish Pro is much higher than that of HGST Ultrastar He12. But after all, this is a mechanical hard disk. The read-write performance of 200 MB/s is still not comparable to that of 500 MB/s or even 1000 MB/s solid-state hard disk.

CrystalDiskMark and AS SSD are both hard disk read and write performance testing software. The advantage of this software is that the testing time is faster than AS SSD. The software version chosen by the author is 5.21, which can be compatible with relatively new large-capacity mechanical hard disk and solid-state hard disk.

The test results are also expected by the author. The sequential reading and writing speed of Seagate Cool Fish Pro is 100 MB/s higher than that of HGST Ultrastar He12. At the same time, we can also see that CrystalDiskMark and ASSDD test results are similar.

ATTO Disk Benchmark Test Comparison

According to ATTO test results, the average transmission speed of Seagate Cool Fish Pro has exceeded 250 MB/s, while that of HGST Ultrastar He12 has only exceeded 120 MB/s.

Overall, the theoretical reading and writing performance of Seagate Cool Fish Pro is better than that of HGST Ultrastar He12. In fact, the read and write speed of the mechanical hard disk can reach 200 MB/s, which represents that the performance of the hard disk has been very strong. However, the performance of mechanical hard disk can not compete with solid-state hard disk, the only advantage is the size of the capacity.

At present, the price of Seagate Cool Fish Pro 12TB mechanical hard disk is 4299 yuan, and HGST Ultrastar He12 is 5499 yuan. From the price point of view, these two mechanical hard drives are certainly not suitable for ordinary consumers to buy, they are more suitable for enterprise users to buy. Compared with 1TB solid-state drives at the same price, large-capacity mechanical drives need an arrogant memory to compete with them in terms of read and write performance. This combination may cost a little more than an SSD. Therefore, the choice of hard disk depends on your demand for capacity/read/write performance. Ordinary consumers can choose some 1TB, 2TB consumer-grade mechanical hard disk and install a solid state as the system disk. For enterprise and professional users, 12TB mechanical hard disk may be more cost-effective.
